GENERAL ELECTION
THE EDEN SEAT CHOOSING NATIONAL CANDIDATE Arrangements have been made for the selection of the National Party's cantliilale for the Fden scat, at present held .or Labour by Mr. W. T. Anderton. Nine men have been nominated in the National Party's interests and to assist supporters in making their choice a series of meetings will be held to present the nominees to the electors. On Tuesday night five of the nominees, Messrs. 13. W. Beaumont, T. MoNab, A. M. Samuel, M. S. Walker and Dr. E. ]}. Gunson, will each address electors for half an hour, and on the following Tuesday, August 9, the four remaining nominees, Messrs. J. A. C. Allum, H. W. Corson, C. E. Clarke and D. Pool, will speak for a similar period. The nominees will go before a selection ballot on August IG. The lowest four will be eliminated in the first ballot, provided no nominee obtains an absolute majority, and the next three will be eliminated in a second ballot. The two remaining nominees will then go before a final ballot to decide who will be the candidate.
