FAIRLY GENERAL RAIN COLDER TEMPERATURES The weather report and forecast fo r New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as fol. lows: —An extensive and rather deep depression is centred west of the Auckland Peninsula. An anti-cyeloue 0 f slight intensity covers eastern Australia. The forecast is for south-east to north-east winds prevailing, to moderate mainly, hut strong in some exposed positions, later winds backing to west and south-west in the far north and elsewhere turning to *outh-east or southerly and freshening. Seas light to moderate south of Farewell Spit, elsewhere mainly rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasrnan Sea: .Moderate to strong south-east to southerly winds and rough seas.
