FAIRLY GENERAL RAIN COLDER TEMPERATURES The weather report and forecast fo r New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as fol. lows: —An extensive and rather deep depression is centred west of the Auckland Peninsula. An anti-cyeloue 0 f slight intensity covers eastern Australia. The forecast is for south-east to north-east winds prevailing, to moderate mainly, hut strong in some exposed positions, later winds backing to west and south-west in the far north and elsewhere turning to *outh-east or southerly and freshening. Seas light to moderate south of Farewell Spit, elsewhere mainly rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasrnan Sea: .Moderate to strong south-east to southerly winds and rough seas. The weather is likely to b° mainly cloudy to overcast, with intermittent rain. A few heavy falls aro still proboble. Temperatures moderate .Seas rather roygh to rough. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Unsettled weather was experienced yesterday. Following sunshine in the morning, rain -rta.s experienced in the early afternoon and last night. The wind was moderate, varving between north and east. The maximum temperature wa- oO degrees and the minimum ~/2 degrees. Barometric pressure continued to fall.

The morning was calm and a very light sonth-we>t wind blew in the afternoon. The maximum temperature ivas 41.6 degrees and the barometer fell slowly to at o p.m. Dnnedin.—-The weather was dull hut mild, with practically no wind.
