CAPACITY OF RESERVOIR PROPOSAL FOR ENLARGEMENT A proposal for the enlargement of the Xorthcote reservoir came before the Xorthcote Borough Council last night. The consulting engineer, Mr. A. Grcvillq "Walker, pointed out that the present capacity was lid,ooo gallons, ivhich could be increased to 330,000 gallons by an extension of the present structure, the estimated cost being L'-'i.528. .Mr. Walker submitted plan and
r.stimated cost of the proposed reiligninent of the main highway across he Kauri Gully Stream, the plan to ;e forwarded to the Main Highways ion I'd for approval. The Auckland Hospital Board wrote hat the Xorthcote Council's letter sking for details of the proposed addiional expenditure by the board had een received, and added that the sum f £19:1,471 included amounts totalling 1100.000 for various proposed new uildings. such amount being met by laus which would be raised as reuired. The town clerk, Mr. G. M. Li I ham,, reported that the figures had een explained to him since by the cting-.>oeretarv of the board.
The fire brigade advised poor presire of water in the water mains in newa road in the vicinity of both the igh school and the primary school, he provision of a new fire engine with loster pump attachment was also rged. Further inquiry is to be made y the council.
