COUNTRY STOCK SALES

FRANKTON QUOTATIONS HEAVY YARDING OF SHEEP FAT PIGS IN KEEN DEMAND [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday An exceptionally heavy yarding of all classes of fat sheep came forward at the Frankton stock sales to-day, the entry comprising a large proportion of unfinished mutton. Heavy prime fat wethers remained firm, and in some cases prime quality sheep showed improvement. Unfinished wethers continued to be neglected. Fat ewes remained on a par with last sale, while fat hoggets, which were yarded in larger numbers, showed an improvement. Store sheep were again dull of sale. The top price pen of wethers 31s I'd, being sold on account of ilr. A. Porter, Ic Kowliai. Ox beef was penned in average numbers. Competition was steady, with values remaining on a par with last week's rates. A full entry of cow and heifer beef came forward, with only a small proportion of finished cattle. Competition was firm, values showing slight improvement. A full offering of vealers met with a ready sale, while a smaller yardiug of boner cows realised full market rates. There was a light yarding of all classes of fat pigs. Competition was keen for baconers and porkers, with values fully up to last week's quotations, while light and unfinished porkers showed a slight rise on recent values. A large yarding of store and weaner pigs met with a keen demand from a good bench of buyers. An extra* good yarding-of breeding sows was not keenly sought, and values for this class were easier.
