BOOK COLLECTION SOLD A VARIETY OF WORKS Only moderate prices were realised for works on early New Zealand Inst night, when a large collection of books mainly relating to New Zealand, Australia and the South Sea Islands was auctioned by Richard Arthur, Limited. Of about 300 items submitted, all but a few were sold. The collection did not include any outstanding rarities. Bidding was keen for a first edition of Alfred Domett's well-known narrative poem, "Ranolf and Amohia," 1872, and it was quickly knocked down for £1 6s. Ward's "Nelson, the Latest Settlement," published in London in 1842, the year of the town's foundation, brought £1 3s. "Sermons by the Lord Bishop of New Zealand as Curate of Windsor." printed for private circulation in 1842, realised (ss.
