RIGHTFUL PLACE
POPULARITY OF BIBLE THANKSGIVING SERVICE [from oun OWN correspondent] LONDON. Junn 25 The Speaker of the Houso of Commons, Captain E. A. Fitzßoy, and the Lord President of the Council, Viscount Hailsham, read the Lessons at a national thanksgiving service for the open Bible in England, held at St Paul's Cathedral, as part of tho Fourth Centenary celebrations this year. Prayers were said by the Bishop of London, Dr. Wilmington Ingram, and tho Rev. M. E. Aubrey, Moderator of the Federal Council of the I£ree Churches, and tho benediction was pronounced by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Cosmo Lang. Tho Bishop of Manchester, Dr. Wi irman, who is chairman of tho National Council for tho Centenary celebrations, preached tho sermon. Men of many communities, he said, were present at the commemoration. That might bo a sign of the coming of unity among the Churches, and might bo a slight step toward such unity. "The Bible is the most popular and tho most influential book in tho world," Dr. Warinan added. England owed everything to it, and there were encouraging signs that it was again taking its rightful place.
