INCREASE IN JAPAN ASSISTANCE TO COMPANIES The Japanese Finance Ministry's decision to increase the purchasing price of gold by 8 sen to 3 yen 85 sen per gramme is being followed by the Central Bank of Manehukuo. Hitherto the purchasing price of gold has been fixed oil the basis of the gold quotation in London and the London exchange rate. The present increase is computed on the basis of the American purchase price of gold, namely, .'55 dollars an ounce, and the Now York exchange rate, together with the cost of the shipment of »old abroad. No margin is left between the Government's purchase price and the foreign quotations for gold. Goldinining companies are expected to profit by about .'5,600.000 yen, or £210,000, through the new increase, as their annual production of gold is estimated at 450,000 kilograms.
