FORMATION FLIGHT
NEW BRITISH RECORD PARIS TO NORTHOLT LONDON, July 12 It is officially announced that 11 Royal Air Force Hawker Hurricane aeroplanes which recently flew in formation from Northolt, Middlesex, to Paris, made a record on their return by flying over Croydon in 51 minutes. They reached Northolt in 55 minutes. RETURN JOURNEY FASTEST YET MADE ABOUT 260 MILES AN HOUR British Wireless RUGBY, July 12 In connection with the Hawker Hurricanes' formation flight from Paris the time of 55 minutes is the fastest in which the journey between Paris and London has been made, either by an individual aircraft or a formation. The flight, which was against a strong wind, was made via Boulogne and Lvmpne to Northolt, a total distance of 235 miles. The approximate speed of the formation was 260 miles an hour. The previous record of 57 minutes was made by a single civil aircraft, which flew direct between Croydon and Lc Bourgot, a distance of approximately 200 miles.
