DRURY SWIMMING POOL

RESIDENTS SUPPORT SCHEME SUBSIDY FROM GOVERNMENT A scheme to provide a swimming pool for tho Drury district in the Hiugaia Stream, at Bremner's Bridge, was discussed 'at a meeting of local residents in the Drury Public Hall. Mr. R. Flanagan presided. The scheme was outlined by Mr. J. V. Salisbury, who stated that the bank would bo cut away to allow a concrete wall to be built halt in the bank ;\nd half in the stream, with a concrete lloor and steps leading down to it. The old bathing sheds would bo reconstructed and concrete Hours laid down. The chairman announced, that a deputation to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. 10. Parry, had been successful in obtaining a subsidy of £IOO, providing the residents secured the balance of approximately £IOO. The meeting decided to proceed with the scheme and to raise a portion of the? balance by means of an art union, for which the Minister has issued a permit. Several donations have also been promised by local supporters of tho project.
