PRESIDENT HONOURED FUNCTION AT PUKEKOHE [from odr own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Friday Members of the Dominion Council of the New Zealand Bowling Association were the guests of the Pukekohe Bowling Club to-day at a complimentary luncheon tendered to Mr. F A. Hosking, a member of the club, to mark the occasion of his election to the office of president of the council. The guests were Mr. Hosking, Mr. M. J. Casey (Wellington), vice-president; Mr. W. Connor (Dunedin), immediate past president; Mr. S. Coldicntt (Auckland), treasurer; Mr. G. L. Gladding (Auckland), secretary; and the following councillors; —Messrs. A. E. Whitten (Auckland), H. Mayo (Napier), E. T. Petty (New Plymouth). S. M. Stone (Wellington), W. Gilbert (Wellington), 11. B. Oakey (Christchurch), L. B. Evans (Christchnrch), T. Currie (Timaru), I>. H. Thomson (Oamaru). and J Forster (Dunedin). "This is the first occasion in the history of bowling in New Zealand on which a member of a country club has been appointed president of the Dominion council," said Mr. H. Burrows, president of the Pukekohe Club, who proposed the toast of the principal guest of honour. "The club is highly honoured to see one of its members elevated to so high a position." Mr. Hosking, in reply, said that he could not hope to meet a finer body of men than those with whom he was associated on the council. He deeply appreciated the honour that had been conferred upon him, and thanked the club for arranging the gathering. The toast of "The Dominion Council" was proposed by Mr. W. J. Short (Pukekohe), who paid a tribute to the efficient manner in which the game was controlled in New Zealand. Mr. M. Casey replied.
