PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given, aB required by Section 54 of 'The Rating Act, 11)25," that tho Auckland City Council, in pursuance of its powers under Sections 77, 82 and 1)2 of "Tho Municipal Corporations Act, 1033," Section 52 of "The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1020," Section 50 of "The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Act, 1008." and of all others powers enabling it in that behalf, intends, oil tho 18th (lay of July, 103S, to make and levy the following rates in respect of the City of Auckland for tho year commencing on tho Ist day of June, 1038, and ending on the 31st day of May, 1030: 1. A General Rate of One Shilling and Ninepence Farthing (1/0%) in the £. 2. A Library Rate of One Penny (Id) in the £. 3. A Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate of Eightpence (8d) in the £ 4. A Drainage Rate of Threepence Farthing (3%d) in tho £. In respect of*the ordinary supply of water within tho meaning of tho Waterworks Bylaws of the City of Auckland — Upon all Lands and Dwelling-houses to which water is supplied, whose Annual Rateable Value, as appearing on the Valuation Roll: — (a) Does not exceed Twelve Pounds Ten Shillings: A rato of Ten Shillings (10/-). (l>) Exceeds Twelve Pounds Ten Shillings: A rato of four and one-quarter per per centum (4 l A per cent) on such value. Upon all Buildings used for any purpose other than dwelling-houses whose Annual Rateable Value, as appearing on the Valuation Roll: — (a) Does not exceed Twelve Pounds Ten Shillings: A rate of Five Shillings (5/-). (b) Exceeds Twelve Pounds Ten Shillings: A rate of two and on*j-eighth per centum (2'/ B per cent) on such value. Provided that when tl.o whole supply to such building is registered by meter, tho consumer shall, in addition, bo required to pay any excess over one-quarter of the annual rates as may bo disclosed by each quarterly meter reading. 2. In respect of all Lands and Buildings to which water can bo but is not supplied, situate within one hundred yards from any part of llio Waterworks: A rate of two and one-eighth per contuin (2% per cent) on the Annual Rateable Value, provided that in no case shall tho minimum amount of such rato bo loss than Five Shillings (5/-). Tho said Rates shall bo payable in each ruse in one sum upon tho 10th day of July, 1038, at tho Municipal Offices, Town Hail, Auckland, to Thomas William Mark Ashby, the Council's Collector, or to such other person as may from timo to tinio bo appointed to collect same. The Valuation Roll is open for inspection at the Town Hall, Auckland, between the hours of 0 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on all business days of the week from Monday to Friday. AND FURTHER PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given, as required by Section 70 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933." that the Estimates upon which the General Rate is being struck, having been approved by the Council, are open for inspection at tho Town Clerk's Office, Town llall, Auckland, between tho hours of 0 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on all business days of the week from Monday to Friday.
