Sandys, and the applicability of the Act to members, has elected Sir John Gilmour, a former
Cabinet Minister and member for Glasgow, as chairman. Mr. Sandys has been invited to give evidence privately to-morrow.
Answering a question asked in the House by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. C. 11. Attlee, whether it was intended to have a debate on the report of the Committee of Privileges, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir John Simon, said the report of the committee must be brought before the House, and time would be given to consider it.
