BUSINESS MAN'S DEATH
MR. G. P. JACKSON WELL-KNOWN LAND AGENT SUDDEN COLLAPSE AT HOME Tho death occurred suddenly at his homo in Orakei Road, Remuera, last night, of a well-known Auckland business man, Mr. George Proude Jackson, of the firm of T. Mandeno Jackson, estate agents. Mr. Jackson, who was in his 66th year, attended his office as usual yesterday. After dinner he became ill and died before the other members of the household could come to his assistance. A son of the late Mr. Samuel Jackson, one of the best-known early Auckland lawyers, and founder of the firm of Jackson, Russell, Tunks and West, Mr. Jackson, was born in Auckalnd and educated at the Wanganui Collegiate School. Ho took up a commercial career, and when his brother, tho late Mr. T. Mandeno Jackson, established an estate agency business he and another brother, the lato Mr. J. H. Jackson, joined him. Ho took » full part in tho operations of the firm and acted as auctioneer at many important property sales. Mr. Jackson was a member of tho Auckland Club and the Auckland Racing Club. Ho took a keen interest in deep-sea fishing, and was owner of Motu Arohia, or Robinson's Island, in tho Bay of Islands, whero ho regularly entertained many friends at Christmas and Easter. Ho was unmarried, and is survived by a brother, Mr. Thornton Jackson, and three sisters, Miss Jackson, of Orakei Road; Mrs. A. W. Blair, of Wellington; and Mrs. W. H. Madill, of Kohimarama.
