NOTES ON RUNNING MISHAP TO ENTHEOS MATORU ' BACK TO HIS BEST [bt telegraph—ows correspondent] ... . "WELLINGTON, Sunday In the Hack Hurdle Race at Marton yesterday TaiUic.ht Avas lucky to ■win. He,was hotly challenged by Lntheos from the last fence when the saddle on Entheos slipped back and after bucking hard once or twice he threw St. Beale, his jockey, over his head. Had the mishap not occurred, Entheos probably "would have won, and even with'the saddle slipping he held a winning chance had he not bucked. There was support for Lustral, who was having his first hurdle race, but he went badly, showing a great dislike for the fences. His pace kept him with the field for a long way, but he will have to improve to have the chance that was suggested by his recent schooling. Sinking Fund went a fair race and he might improve for next week. A most impressive win was that of Matoru in the Winter Stakes. He tailed the bunch to the turn, where he swept right round the field and easily passed them. He had been working well and must have a great chance of -winning again during this week. The former Auckland horse Plav On did best of the others, although his connections were uncertain about his ability in soft going, fe Hai's race was only fair; he had every chance. Manawntu never was with the field, bi:t he looks well. Air Shot, running in the same owner--Bhij> aSi Brigadore, showed great pace and jumping ability and completely eclipsed his opponents in the steenlechase, Brigadore ran in the Crofton Hack Cup and showed pace for a jumper, being up with the leaders for tlw first seven furlongs. He looks well. Atfo waß unlucky in the Fare*eil Handicap, missing the jump-out, Du t he ran on into fourth place, howeT®r * Shining Hours, who also dwelt a na lost a deal of ground, finally won >e ry easily. Lady Hoariri was going like w ?, lnner in front, but she broke down ba & on the turn. ir, ti .P ran well in the Hack Fly- ? 8 Handicap, finishing fifth after being cl°M.nd the. leaders throughout.
