ANNUAL ROAD EACE ONEHUNGA TO AUCKLAND SAVIDAN'S FINE PERFORMANCE Tho veteran runner, J. W. Savidan, m<\do a notable return on Saturday afternoon in the annual Onehutißa to Auckland road race of 7i miles, which ho won in 36in 575. Savidan took the lead from the start and was never headed. The event was conducted by the Technical Old Boys' Amateur Athletic Club. Tho winner of the Great Eastern Road race held three weeks ago, J. I. B. Neil, was not good enough to stay with Savidan and finished 22s behind. There were 120 starters and very few retired during the contest. Tho order at tho beginning of tho race was the same as at tho finish. Savidan early set a hot paco and only Neil. VVatters, Cronipton, Briggs, Koefoed and Best looked like maintaining the rate. The runners mentioned kept in tho order named all the way. Officials for the afternoon were as follows: —Manager, Mr. A. Moon; referee, the Kev. F. do Lisle; judges. Messrs., H. h. Towers, H. Jenner Wily. Tho prizes were presented at the Tepid Baths by Mr. lowers, president of the Auckland Centre. The results were:—J. W. Savidan (Auckland), 30m 575, I; J. 1. B. Neil (1 resbyterian), 37m IDs, 2; R. Crompton (Lynndale), 37m 30s, 3. Next in order were:— Briggs (Lynndale), 38m 545; Porter (Papatoetoe), 30m 3s; Koefoed (University), 39m 20s; Best (Technical), 30m 38s; Perrett (Lynndale), 30m 40s; Ibbertson (lechnical). 30m s ls; Collins, 40m 3s; Kemp, 40m 4s; Darroch, 40s 10s; G. Hill, 40m 20s; French. 40in 235; BirtwhistJo. Barker and Littler 8 times were not recorded., as they did not wear numbers. „ „ _ . . _ . . The G. G. Chambers Cup for first to finish was won by J. W. Savidan, of the Auckland Club. ' . . . The Wilson Road Cup for the winning A team was won by Lynndale with a net score of 30 points. The winning team comprised Crompton, Briggs, Perrett, Kemp, E.. Ta.vlor and Howells. Auckland, 34 points; University, 00 points; and Presbyterian, 05 points; wore next. , TI i The Robinson Brothers trophy for B teams was won by Lynndale. with University second. The winning team comprised Moffett. Collins. Dolan, Stephen, Cathcart and Monroe. . . The Metropolitan Cup for winner on handicap was won bv IS. Holding (Wesley), 10m, with T. V. Nelson (University), 7m 15s, second, and F. McLclland (Wesley), 9m 455, third. __ The trophy presented by Mr. E. W. Friedlander for the first junior to finish was won by E. Olson, of the Lynndale Club. PRESBYTERIAN CLUB Tho Presbyterian Bible Class Harrier Clnb ran in two packs from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A.
