MISSION PROGRESS
PRESBYTERIAN ACTIVITIES OPERATIONS IN INDIA Very encouraging reports of the progress oiChristian mission work in India were given to. the Missions Committee of the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday by the Rev. T. E. Riddle, who recently arrived on furlough from Jagadhri, in the Punjab. r Mr. Riddle referred to the sense of confidence and hope he had found expressed among missionaries he had met at a recent conference at Landour. There was, he said, a very definite movement among educated men and women toward Christianity. The growth of the Christian church was such that politicians were now taking notice of its Strength, and this was having its effect in loosening the bonds of caste. The ideals of Christianity were increasingly influencing the thinking of the educated classes, and about 16,000 members were being added to the Christian Church each month throughout India. They were developing their own native leadership, and the different denominations were moving toward a closer unity. : The report of the superintendent of Maori Missions, the Rev. J. 6. Laughton, reviowed activities in various directions.
