WIDESPREAD RAIN WINDS OF GALE FORCE ' ■ - • j The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by*the Government meteorologist last evening were as fol-lows:—-An intense anti-cyclone j g located east of Ea3t Cape. A series of westerly depressions is advancing across the south Tasman Sea and another depression is centred north-west of Cape Maria van Dienien. The forecast is for north-east to northerly winds, strong in the far north and -v south, elsewhere moderate but freshening to gale force in places and turning more westerly after about 24 hours! Seas rough north of East Cape; else! where slight to moderate but rising, especially 011 the west coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong northerly winds to gales and rough seas but winds turning more westerly and decreasing somewhat within 24 hours. The weather it likely to be mainly fair at first, but with increasing cloud. Rain developing in northern and southern districts and becoming widespread within 24 hours. Temperatures mild. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST OVERCAST WITH RAIN The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following forecast for the Auckland Province: —Strong north-easterly winds rising to gale force in places,, but turning to north-west or west after about 24 hours. The weather is likely to be cloudy to overcast with ram developing. Temperatures mild. Seas rough on the east coast; moderate lo rather rough on the west coast with * considerable swell. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER* Auckland. —Cloudy weather with a fresh to strong wind from the northeast was experienced yesterday. The maximum temperature was 59 degrees and the minimum 48 degrees.
