MANUKAU CLUB'S SEASON INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP The report presented at the annual meeting of the Manukau Yacht and Motor-Boat Club stated that the past season had been the best for many years and clearly indicated that yachting on the Manukau was gaining in popularity. The membership was now 172, an increase of 20 for the year, and the boat register had increased to 40. Jen races were held for yachts and six for motor-boats. The club had (lie honour last year of representing Auckland with Aileen and her crew at the annual contest for the Sanders C'ut> at Dunedin. Although Aileen won the trials in Auckland, she was beaten in the contest. After the fixture the Manukau crew sailed in another boat and won a special race. Mr. E. Pickering, one of Aileen's crew, had since purchased the Wellington 14-footer Clyde and will race her in the coining season. The club was also represented in the annual contest for the Cornwell Cup at Pliuiniertoil. The balance-sheet showed that the club was in a sound financial position. After writing 10 per cent off all assets, making the usual allotment to the trustee funds, and a a loan to the Cornwell Cup funds of the club and a donation to the Sanders Cup contest, the credit balance was £4O more than last year. The receipts from the general fund included £32 from donations, £lB from subscriptions, £24 from prize night, and £l2 for the use of the clubhouse. The principal items of expenditure were £32 for prizes, £l6 for prize night, £lO to Sanders Cup fund, and £7 loan to Cornwell Cup fund. The following officers wero elected:— Patron, Mr. M. H.
