DOMINION GOODS
ENCOURAGING SUPPORT WORKERS AND MANUFACTURERS Proposals are now taking shape for the creation of a national committee composed of representatives of the Now Zealand Federation of Labour and the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation which would work toward encouraging greater support by the public for New Zealand-made goods. At a meeting yesterday of the general committee of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association advice to this effect was received from the Manufacturers' Federation. The federation stated that the movement originated in Christchureh, where the Canterbury Manufacturing Association and the Canterbury branch of the Federation of Labour agreed at a conference to form a joint committee to encourage the consumption of goods made in the Dominion, and also to recommend the establishment _of a national committee representative of their respective federations for the same purpose. The president of the Auckland Association, Mr. H. W. Shove, # welcomed the proposal. It was in their own interests, he said, that trades unions should take part in encouraging support for New Zealand manufactures, for the state of employment depended largely on the support given by the workers to industries. It was agreed to support the plan for a national committee. ..
