TRIAL OF STRENGTH
THE GENERAL ELECTION MR. SEMPLE'S PREDICTION PEOPLE POLITICALLY MINDED [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday "It is going to be a proper trial of strength—with useful people on one hand and usjurers on the other," said the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, to-night, when discussing the general election. "We must remember to fight hard. That is why I am fighting now when I ought to be home with my wife having a rest, but we realise that we cannot win the election fight by sitting up in Wellington. "People have become politically minded," the Minister continued. "Air. Hamilton has said that, but he was on the wrong track when he gave his reasons. He says it is because people fear the Labour Government, but they are getting politically minded because they fear Mr. Hamilton and his crowd will come back. They fear the return of clothes drives and soup kitchens."
