SCHOOLS BOYCOTTED
WOMEN'S PLEA FOR SAFETY CONCERTED ACTION TAKEN A group of women, parents of tho in two council schools at Willesdeen, North West London, are engaged in boycotting the schools to force their demands for road safety. 11l roe children have been killed outside the Brentfield and Bridgeroad schools and the mothers havo now sent an ultimatum to the Willesdcn Council and the Ministry of Transport demanding a 10 m.p.li. speed limit outsido both schools, guard rails, pedestrian crossings, traffic lights and police supervision. At tho moment they have been promised the guard rails. The lender of the boycotting movement is Mrs. M E Clarke, who planned the "strike'* which kept 1500 children away from school. The two buildings were picketed by 30 mothers, wlio advised tho children not to go in, and a procession of '2OO children marched round the district as a demonstration of their wishes. A playground is being organised for the children in one of the schools, while tho mothers and tho authorities fight the matter out.
