SPORTS GROUNDS
SHORTAGE IN HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD'S PROBLEM [from Otm OWN correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday The shortage of sports grounds in Hamilton was referred to at a meeting of the Hamilton Domain Board when it was stated that every available ground at the present time was fully used, and that there were very few areas which could be made available immediately to sports bodies. Mr. F. A. Swarbrick said that Galloway Park would soon be in good order. Four football fields could bo laid out on the area, which had the benefit of a natural grandstand running the entire length of the park. He considered that the area should be made available for sports, and he would like those who wanted the use of it to inform the Domain Board of their requirements. He said the area could be finally levelled for about £2OO. Mr. W. P'raser said that Hinemoa Park was being used to too great an extent, to the detriment of the young grass. All the football equipment at the park, which included the goal posts and flngs, was the property of the schools in Hamilton, yet it was being used without permission by others. Ho considered that the ground should not bo let to any sports bodies. Mr. Frnser added that until some of the board's leases fell in no other areas belonging to the board could satisfactorily be converted into playing areas. The chairman, Mr. W. H. Paul, considered that it* the board anticipated spending money on any sports area it would be Jbest to concentrate on Galloway Park or the area at Frankton in Kiilavney Boad.
