MAINLY FAIR TO FINE COLD WITH SHARP FROSTS The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows: —An anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and is moving on to New Zealand, where barometers are rising. Pressure has commenced to fall again over eastern Australia. The forecast is for southerly winds, strong at first in Cook Strait, the South Taranaki Bight and between Cape Palliser and East Cape, but decreasing, and elsewhere light to moderate; becoming variable to-morrow over the South Island. Sea 3 rough between Kaikoura and East Cape, and rather rough north of Farewell Spit, but decreasing and elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate southerly winds, becoming variable; seas moderate but decreasing. Some scattered light showers are probable at first between Cape Palliser and East Cape but the weather is likely to be improving and elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures cold with some sharp frosts.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FINE, COOL CONDITIONS The Government, meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province:—Light to moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable. The weather is likely to be fine. Temperatures cool. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Fine, sunny weather with light clouds and a light to fresh wind l'rom the south was experienced yesterday. The maximum temperature was 43.3 degrees. The barometer rose to 30.19 in. at 5 p.m. / Dunedin. —Conditions were milder yesterday and there was a clear sky for | the greater part of the day.
