WORK IN CANNING TOWN One the; host known and host loved social workers in London, Miss Catherine Toners, recently spent lier last day at the Canning Town Women's Settlement. .Miss Towers first went there as secretary in 1901, leaving to do other social worlc lor a lew years, and then returning to the Settlement to be warden for the last 1(3 years. Although she has retired from her present position, however, Miss Towers still has plans for more work. She intends to devote most of her time from now on to the improvement of housing, the conditions of which are still very bad in that part of London.
