MILDER WEATHER
SUNSHINE AND SHOWERS TORRENTIAL FALL IN CITY Milder temperatures, with less wind, ruled in the city and suburbs during the week-end and, with the exception of a few sharp showers yesterday, little rain fell. The maximum temperature yesterday was 60 degrees, which is several degrees higher than has recently been recorded. Many pedestrians were caught in a torrential shower which fell in the city shortly before two o'clock yesterday. There was a downpour at Papaktira, where culverts were flooded and drains filled to overflowing. The rain lasted about half an hour. The atmosphere became noticeably colder after the fall, but the sky cleared shortly afterward and the sun shone. Milder weather also was experienced in the North and, although there was some rain in the afternoon, the sky cleared toward sunset. The barometer, which fell steadily on Saturday, steadied after the downfall yesterday afternoon, and was rising at a late hour last night. The weather last night was slightly overcast, with a light northerly wind and little fog. A total of .25in. of rain fell in the city yesterday.
