BULL IN MAIN STREET
EXCITEMENT AT WAIHI GIRL KNOCKED DOWN SEVERAL NARROW ESCAPES [by telegraph—own correspondent] WAIHI, Sunday Some diversion was caused in the main street of the town this morning, when a year-old bull suddenly made its appearance and charged at a man on a bicycle, the latter escaping by dashing round a corner. The animal, continuing its career up the street, rushed at" two young girls on the footpath. Ono slipped into a doorway, but the other was knocked down, lortunately she escaped with only superficial injuries. ... The bull, which had previously been shot at, had received a considerable number of pellets in its forehead. Eventually the animal was got under control by its owner.
