27 DEGREES OF FROST
CANTERBURY RECORDING COLD SNAP AT MOUNT COOK [hy telegraph—own correspondent] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday A frost Qf 27 degrees was recorded at Clayton Station, in the Mackenzie County, yesterday morning, following on the recent heavy fall of snow. Twenty-six degrees were reported at the Hermitage, Mount Cook, and at Lake TekajSo, and 20 degrees at Fairlie township. The heaviest recording so far this winter, at Geraldine, was 12 degrees. The previous heaviest recording at Geraldine was nine degrees on May 21. Twenty-four degrees of frost were recorded at Coal Hill Station, in the Rangitata Gorge, and 17 degrees at Woodbury, CHANGEABLE CONDITIONS RAIN AND COLD IN WAIKATO [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday There was an unsual change in the weather in Hamilton to-day. Following a clear, cold night, there was a sharp frost this morning, 5.2 degrees being registered. There was bright sunshine during the morning, but shortly after mid-day the sky became overcast and rain fell. The atmosphere was cold.
