L. H. Collmson and G. C. Keeble, was received by the Minister of .Internal Affairs, the Hon. W T . E. Parry, who visited Palmerston North yesterday. The Minister said that the club's request for a permit for an extra day's racing in the Manawatu during the winter months would be considered by the commission which the Government proposed to set up to go into the whole matter of racing rules. The relationship between the Racing Club and the Manawatu Hunt Club was outlined to the Minister. The Racing Club paid the Hunt Club £IOO and half tho profits for tho privilege of holding a winter meeting. The last meeting realised a profit of £l2 only. It was suggested that the Hunt Club could hold its own meeting, and that the Racing Club bo given an extra permit to hold a properly-conducted steeplechase meeting at Awapuni. Mr. Parry said tho club's request was a matter for the commission which the Government would set np in the near future. At i ,resen t he was definitely opposed to opening up tho Gaming Act and would not do so until tho commission presented him with its recommendations.
