PRICE OF COAL
Sir, —In your columns recently a raining expert from the United States remarked 011 the high price of coal in ISew Zealand. He said it was sold in the States from 12s to £1 a ton, whereas in New Zealand it is in the vicinity of £3 10s a ton. He also stated that coal could be sold for the same price in New Zealand if the mines were equipped with up-to-date machinery. Surely if this is so something could he done in the matter as it is affecting the whole cost of living. Householder.
