RATES FOR CURRENT YEAR A
Lengthy, discussion took place at ai T * meeting of the Takapuna BoroughrS Council last night when the question of defining the western area arose in.;" connection with the sewerage in that portion of the borough. It was that the area should extend from Xorthborough Road tunnel to and in*--eluding Dominion Street. The Mayor* Mr. J. Guiniven, said the council had in the vicinity of £55,000 with which-i to carry out the scheme. It is hoped "» the borough engineer will have the plans completed hy August 31. A latter was received from the Auck - land City Council advising that the j ; cost of the Auckland Provincial Court "* at the Centennial Exhibition would be~ £95. It was decided to advise the New;"* Zealand Centennial Exhibition 'Committee that the borough would set up its own committee and that any money contributed for the celebrations would, ~ be spent within the borough for the 'r benefit of the district. .
The following rates were struck at? a special meeting of the council:— consolidated rate of Is lid in the_ pound; for refuse removal a unfonrjannual fee of ]os from April 1, 1938* to March 31, 1939; a minimum water t ". rate of £1 4s covering the same period,all water consumed in excess of 16,000 '. gallons to be charged for at the rata- i of Is 6d a 1000 gallons.
