FATAL INJURIES

MRS. E. C. RIDDIFOKD STRUCK BY VAN IN STREET WORK DURING WAR RECALLED [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Tuesday Fatal head injuries were received by Mrs. Eleanor Caroline Riddiford, widow of Mr. Edward Joshua Riddiford, in a collision with a motor-van while crossing the road to her home at Lower Hutt about 5.40 p.m. to-day. Mrs. Riddiford was unconscious when picked up, and died at her home two hours later without regaining consciousness. Mrs. Riddiford, who was' a daughter of a Wellington pioneer, the late Mr. Heiiry Bunny, former deputysuperintendent of tho Wellington Province, was born in 1861. She married in 1879, and with tho exception of a few years, in England, lived all her life at Lower Hutt.

Deceased was well known for her acts of charity during the war. She did great service at Walton-on-Tliames, London.

Mrs. Riddiford is survived by Mr. Daniel Riddiford, of Featherston; Mr. Eric Riddiford, of Orongo-Orongo; Mrs. Lindsay, of Scotland; Mrs. Liddiard, of England, and Mrs. Dudley Kettle, of Napier. Two sons, Mr. Vivian Riddiford and Mr. Lionel Riddiford, predeceased her.
