DELICIOUS FRUIT

Dear Anne Shirley,—Just a line to tell you about our guavas. On September 26 last year, we bought a dozen guava trees, which were wrapped in sacking to protect their tender roots. Immediately they wore planted in the garden, which is well cultivated. A fortnight or so after planting, some farmyard manure, the natural plantfood, was dug into the soil around the trees. Each week we could see them growing into strong, healthy plants. They are only a little over three feet high now, but are very bushy, with lovely dark grqgn foliage. Soon tiny buds appeared and suall white flowers took their places. Thise gradually withered up and the berries formed. The guavas soon ripened and were very delicious to eat, too. Guavas have been growing in .our garden for a little over eight "months and Have had new leaves, flowers and berries on at the same time. I think they are wonderful bearers, don't you ?—From your sincere circler, Joy Fisher, Ohinewai.
