WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS

RACING CARNIVAL ENDS HOCKEY AT EDEN PARK Racing, hockey and football comprise the main sporting attractions to be held in the city during the week-end. The Auckland Racing Club's Winter Meeting will conclude at Ellerslie today, when the principal events to bo decided are the York Handicap and tho Winter Steeplechase. Excellent acceptances have been received and a large attendance is expected. A varied afternoon's entertainment will bo provided at Eden Park with the meeting of th« English women's hockey team and the Auckland representatives and a Rugby football match between the Grafton and Grammar Old Boys team. Two matches will bo played at the Epsom Show Grounds, where University will play Ponsonbv and Otahuhu will meet Manukau. The remaining match in the final series of the first round in the senior Rugbv championship will be between North Shore and Marist at Devonport. The first round of the Auckland Rugby League's senior championship will be concluded at Garlaw Park this afternoon, the main game being between Newton and Marist, The principal attraction at Bland ford Park will be a combined Chatham Cup and championship match between Thistle and Abels, starting at 2.30 o'clock this afternoon. In addition the usual golf, harrier, eycling and bowling contests will be held.
