FOOTBALLER'S ACTION
A peculiar position arose in tho Old Boys-City Rugby match at Whangarei on Saturday regarding the eligibility of an Old Boys player, C. White. White, who is a Maori Jill Black and a North Auckland representative, has played for Kamo this season in the Whangarei competition, and also, it is alleged, for North Shore, Auckland. White was ready for play when objection was taken as his transfer from the Kamo Club had not been secured. White immediately went to Kamo to get his written clearance from that club. In the meantime the Old Boys team took the field with 14 men. White returned in about 15 minutes with the clearance, Mr. D. Hart, a Kamo Club official, having been called off the field while playing for the Kamo senior team against Hikurangi to write it. White then brought up the Old Boys' playing strength to fifteen. The legality of the position is doubted by some of the Whangarei Union's officials.- The position is not too clear whether White's transfer is in order.
