THAMES POLICE COMPLAINT OFFENDER FINED BY COURT [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] ' , ■ ' THAMES, Tuesday "We have had considerable trouble recently with Maoris drinking around the streets and outside dance halls," said Sergeant F. C. Harrison, in the Thames Police Court this morning when Hori Grey, a Maori, appeared on a charge of aiding and abetting the commission of an offence, the supply of liquor to a native. In this instance, said Sergeant Harrison, three men were seen drinking from a bottle behind a car in Mackay Street on a night when a dance was in progress. The defendant was seen drinking from a bottle, which he put in another man's pocket when the police arrived. . Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., to defendant: You have enough hotels in Thames. You go to a dance to dance, and not to drink. Defendant was fined £1 and costs 17s.
