CHURCH RESIGNATION
EX-MAYOR OF DUNEDIN DECISION OF MR. COX ACCEPTANCE BY PRESIDENT [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Tuesday The president of the Methodist Conference, the Rev. P. R. Paris, has accepted the resignation of the Rev. E. T. Cox, ex-Mayor of Dunedin, from the Methodist Church of New Zealand.
Mr. Cox, who was Mayor of Dunedin for two terms, was defeated at the election last month. He recently denied a rumour that he had been offered and had accepted the position of director of the new radio broadcasting station at Invercargill. .He was an unsuccessful Labour candidate for the Clutha seat at the 1935 general flection.
