BIOLOGY BLOCK
UNIVERSITY BUILDING * GOVERNMENT GRANT MADE Telegraphic advice was received yesterday from the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, by Mr. F. W. Schramm, M.P. for Auckland East, that the Cabinet has approved a grant for the purchase of and equipment for the pew biology block at Auckland University College. No details were given in the message concerning the' amount of the grant and the terms of its allocation. The college council decided in March to ask tho Government for a grant of £7184 for the equipment of the new building and lor converting tho old science block for the tise of other branches of the faculty. It was estimated that £IOBS would be required for furnishing the new block and that equipment would cost £3229. It was suggested that tho sum of £2OOO should be allocated toward the alterations required in tho old science building. The council also asked that tho balance of the proposed grant should be made available to meet unforeseen contingencies.
