Tho rain got into the inside grass tracks, tlie surface of which had been opened vip by galloping during the past few days, and made the going for the final gallops heavier than expected after yesterday's sunshine. This caused most of the trainers to limit the tasks of their horses to short sprints, mainly along the back. Gillie and Palmyra finished together over six furlongs in 1.19, the latter; handling the going well. Student I?oval was going better than •Settlement, who joined him at the five-: furlong post. Studley. Royal ran seven furlongs, the last six in 1.1(A1r5, and handled the going well. Ho will 'be ridden by A. K. Didhnm in tho Birthday Handicap if Wild Career starts' in that race. Spanish Lad had Night Wings doing her best at tho end of half a mile iii 51 l-os. Lazybones easily held Donadea over five furlongs in 1.4 2-5. lllora and Corban were sent a mile, taking 1.23 for the last six furlongs. Flame Queen ran the last three of six furlongs in 42 2-ss. Clubman and Alley took 39s to run three furlongs, the former doing the better. Sheeny took 54 2-5s for half a mile, and appeared to be quite at lionise in the licavy going. Golden Chest recorded tho fastest three I'urlongs, being timed to run 38s. Others tinted over this course were Wild Career 41 3-ss, Pink Robe 43 4-ss, Sir Roscnor 42 l-ss, and Ardmaylo 41 2-ss. - !
