HAMILTON PROPOSAL PRELIMINARY STEPS TAKEN £77300 LOAN SCHEME [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday Preliminary steps for the removal of Garden Place, an area of hill land ill the centre of Hamilton, were taken by the Hamilton Borough Council this evening, when recommendations of a committee relating to the raising of losn money and the acquisition of pri-vately-owned sections in the area, were adopted. The borough engineer was authorised to prepare specifications for the removal of houses on the area to new sites and their renovation, and for tha removal of the hill. The ratepayers within a restricted area recently authorised the raising of a loan of £77,500 for the work. The resolution that the proposal be proceeded with was carried bv nine votes to two. Messrs. W. W. Dillicar and W. M. Cann voted against the motion.
