/ .young seaman in court ADVICE FROM MAGISTRATE [BT TKI.KCRArH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Tuesda.v In convicting John Joseph Hodgens, aged 18, seaman, who was charged with being a rogue, and a vagabond in that he was found without lawful excuse in possession of implements for housebreaking, a. screwdriver, file and rubber gloves, and with two minor charges of theft. Mr. W. F. Stihvell, S.M., said: "You are only a lad, and you have Wade a pretty had start in this country. I cannot help hut feel that you should be given a chance of pulling yourself together and settling down. Vour atmosphere' seems to savour of the romantic as a result of your read"ig trashy magazines.
