LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

Newton East branch. —A largely attended meeting of the branch was held recently and was presided over by Mrs. E. Ohms. Assisting with the programme were Mesdames Bennett, Poole and Miss Flynn. An address was given by Mrs. P. D. Wright, president of the Rcmucra No. 3 branch, on the responsibility of each member to her branch and to the provincial and national organisation, in upholding the league's Ideals. An entertainment programme had been arranged by the members of the Remuera No. 3 branch, and thev also provided afternoon tea. The thought for the month was given by Mrs. Miles. Ponsonby.—Over '2OO members, husbands and fathers, ministers from neighbouring churches and visitors attended the Fathers' Night held by the Ponsonby branch of the Leys Institute on Saturday. The president, Mrs. S. 0. English, presided. After the devotional service an enjoyable programme of instrumental, vocal and elocutionary items was given. The speaker was Mr. K. 0. Reid, who gave an address on physical culture, outlining the work in this direction being done in other countries and showing the scope there was for such work in New Zealand.
