GIRL FROM THE ARCTIC
SIX-YEARS-OLD CHILD NOVEL DISTINCTION HELD To be the only white child born in Arctic Canada is a distinction which belongs to a six-vears-old girl, Juno Paslcy, who arrived in England recently with her parents on a brief holiday. Air. and Mrs. Paslcy have lived since thoir marriage, nine years ago. at Cambridge Bay, Victoria Laud, 200 miles inside the Arctic Circle. June was born when the nearest doctor was 1000 miles away—and only Mr. Paslcy was .'it his wife's bedsido when the event took place. Mr. Paslcy has spent more than 24 years in the Arctic. A native of Sheffield. he joined the Royal Navv in 1905, but after eight years' service went to Canada and joined the Royal NorthWest Mounted Police. He served at Hudson Bay, but when war hroko out he returned to England to rejoin the Navv, in which service be remained until the end of hostilities, when ho returned to the "Motilities " Then, 10 years ago, he became master of a 20fitou vessel engaged in fur trading. Mr. Paslcy says that after their holiday they will return to the frozen North. "We like life there better than in the big cities," lie said.
