ROOD MILE BY TYBALT VALMINT also works well SEVERAL JUMPERS SCHOOLED SILK SOX'S FINE DISPLAY The best efforts at Ellerslie yesterday were those of Tybalt and Valmint over a mile, and Land Girl and Kilonsa over six furlongs. Several of the visiting jumpers were schooled, among those to please being the Great Northern Hurdles candidate, Silk Sox The course proper, with the poles out 50ft., was open for galloping and the No. 3 grass ■was also available. The going was slow. On the course proper Land Girl '(Fearn) appeared to bo doing better than Kilonsa (McTavish) at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.21, the first three being run in 39 l-ss. It was a good effort on the part of Land Girl, ■who has been disappointing in her latest races.

With the assistance of Wee Pat '(Williams) over tho first half-mile, and Bonnybelle (Clarke) over the last fivu furlongs, Knight of Australia (Tremain) covered a mile in 1.50 2-5, the last six furlongs in 1.24. Knight of Australia finished strongly and looks fit. Captain Bruce (Gough) worked strongly over a circuit, but was not timed. My Money (Fearn) traversed a round in 2.23, tho last seven furlongs taking 1.45 ~2-5. Easy Test for Disturbed I « Disturbed (Gallagher) beat Electric Spear (Fearn) by a couple of lengths over five furlongs in 1.8 1-5. Disturbed finished well and looks improved. Bronze Wiiig (Metcalfe) was under restraint throughout six furlongs in 1.29 4-5, the last three in 455. , 'Bright Idea (Buchanan) and Master s {Appellant (Stokes) were associated over mx furlongs, averaging 15s to the furlong. Bright Idea worked with plenty of dash and looks improved after his race at Te Rapa, where ho made a forward showing.
