GIFT TO TE AWAMUTU
The presentation to the Te Awamut , _ Historical Society of a field gun which . was used at the battle of Qrakaii in th ~ . Maori Wars was decided upon by tn Auckland City Council last night. 1 xg was stated that the gun was at preseM on loan from the Old Colonists' Museum to a film company which was making a picture dealing with the battle, the Te Awnmutu Historical JC asked if the council would consider _ p r scnting the gun to the society o part of its collection of Maori relics, as the battle was fought only » few miles from Te Awamutu. - A report from the Parks Cornim ® stated the policy of the Old Colomste | Museum had been that it sh ° u primarily contain articles of interest w the City of Auckland and secondly w Auckland Province.
