WESTFIELD QUOTATIONS DAIRY VALUES FIRM GOOD DEMAND FOR STORES While the values for dairy cattle at the Westfiekl weekly stock sale yesterday did not reach the exceptionally high levels of last week, a firm tone wa§ found and prices did not show any material weakening. On a quality for value basis the prices compared favourably with roceut rates. The yarding of high-grade cows and heifers was not so large as last week and those in demand sold readily under keen bidding. Tho host realisation was "£l2 10s for Holr stein cows, with Jersey-cross cows making over £ll, Good heifers realised up to £lO 10s. In the store section the demand was brisk and prices wpre on a par with recent rates, potter bulls of good quality realising up to £lO 17s 6d. Tho quotations were:— ,

There was a large yarding of dairy cows and heifers at the stock sale at Pukekohe to-day conducted by tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited. Dairy stock was keenly sought and late rates were well maintained. Beef values held up to Westfleld yesterday. Best dairy heifers realised from £0 10s to £H 10s; medium heifers, £7 10» to £9 10s; smaller hoifers, £0 to £7 ss; best dairy cows, £ll to £l3: medium dairy cows JES 10s to £'lo 10s; other good dairy cows, £0 to X'S ss. High prices ruled at the sale of pedigree pigs offered on behalf of Mr. A. T. Rogers, Ngaruawahia, by the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited. One Tamworth bow, Mountley's Grand Girl Fifteenth, was sold to Mr. W. McGill, Te Awamutu, for 38 guineas. There was very keen competition for sows In pig to the imported Tamworth boar Woodburn Landon, prices ranging from 12 to 38 guineas, while numerous offerings changed hands at up to 20 guineas. Mr. R. W. Strugnell, of Omokoroa, paid 21 guineas for the sow Burwen Fashion, whilo Mountley's Gay Shirley was sold to Mr. J. C. Armstrong for 20 guineas. A bid of 42 guineas for the Berkshire boar Te Rapa Pride Eleventh did not reach the vendor's reserve. Boars sold at from 0 to 18 guineas, and maiden sows changed hands at from G to 10 guineas. TAUMARUNUI VALUES [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAUMARUNUI, Thursday There was a large attendance of buyers at the Taumarunui sale. Entries comprised 1000 sheep, 200 cattle and 40 pitrs. Competition was keen for all classes of sheep, wether prices advancing considerably on late rates. A line of 450 store-conditioned mixed age wethers made 23s 9d and 100 forward , two-tooth wethers made 24s Od. A pen of 'well-grown wether Romney lambs realised. 17s 4d. Cattle sold at lato rates, and there was firmer competition for pigs. At Stortford Lodge fat cattle mado up by 15s to £1 the full registered last week and sold very firmly. All classes shared in. the demand and it was one of the best sales in this section for some weeks. Prices were up to 82s for best quality cow beef and more than 33s for heifer hoef.. Anothor small entry in the store cattle section resulted in the best inquiry for some weeks, and prices firmed. Weaner steers mado from £1 15s to £1 Us, While off steers made up to £7 ss. Best store cows made up to £5 10s. Storo sheep wore again difficult to sell, as facial eczema is still causing uneasiness and farmers bid reluctantly. Five and six-year-old owes made to '2os, while forward wether lambs made up to 17s Sd.
