NORTHEEN TITLE MATCHES IN THE RAIN LOW SCORING DIFFICULT [by telegram—own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Thursday Steady rain falling all day did not make for pleasant conditions in the North Auckland golf championships, which wero commenced on the Mount Denbj', Wliangarei, links to-day. Prior to the rain the links had been in splendid order, but the water lying round to-day provented low scores. As tho rain appears to bo lifting this evening, conditions may improve for tomorrow's play.
Tho best card returned In the morning's play was that of H. D. Brinsden, Auckland, with 81. Brinsden also leads in the day's play with a gross 165. Tho bost card of tho afternoon was returned by W. J. Glanville, Whangarei, with 80. On a count back from W. "VVoolhouse, Whangarei, tho 18 holes handicap modal round in tho morning was won by A. A. Finlayson, Whangarei, with 94, 21 —73.
