FENCING TOURNAMENT

RESULTS OF THE CONTESTS A series of fencing contests were hold last night at the Seamen's Institute between teams representing the French sloop, the Rigault do Genouilly, H.M.S. Achilles and the Auckland Swords Club. The tournament included foil, epee and sabre contests and a demonstration of fighting with the French duelling sword, the epee, was given by Lieutenants May and A. Van Effenterro, of tho Rigault do Genouilly. The tournament resulted as follows: Foil contest: Each team won six combats. .Epee contest: Auckland Swords Club won by a margin of one combat. Sabre contest: H.M.S. Achilles.
