"As I have been in Amorica for 10 years, I am frequently asked why I do not bocomo an American citizen," said Captain H. Auten, V.C., yesterday, during his address to the Forty-Four Club. "Business men in the United States consider that, if you are making your money in their country, the least you can do is to become a citizen of it." At the end of his address, a member of the club asked Captain Auten why ho did not beeomo an American citizen. "For obvious reasons," was tho reply. "Can you imagine a man who has received. tho Victoria Cross becoming an American citizen ?"
