PURCHASE ANNOUNCED MAY GO TO THE NATION [FROM OUR OWN CORRESrONDKNT] LONDON, April 23 Huglienden Manor, the 1400-acre estate in Buckinghamshire which was once tho home of Benjamin Disraeli, 'Earl of Beaconsfield, has been bought by Mr. William Henry Abbey, of Sedgwick Park, Horsham, Sussex. Mr. Abbey stated yesterday that he intends to remain at Sedgwick Park. "I hope that at some later date Huglienden may possibly •go to the nation," he added, A small part of the park was bought in by High Wycombe Borough Council as the town's memorial to King George V. Until last year the manor was occupied by the' Disraeli family. Major Coningsb.v Disraeli, nephew of Lord Beaconsfield, lived there until his death more than a year ago. His sister was there until September. Huglienden has gardens which "are among the most famous in the country. Disraeli there sought relief from political worries. On a hill in the park is an obelisk erected by Lady Beaconsfield to tlie memory of Isaac D'lsraeli. her husband's father. Disraeli is buried beside his wife in Huglienden churchyard. Disraeli paid £-57.000 for the estate, but the value of the property has increase since then. The present purchase price has not been disclosed. Mr. Abbcv, who is chairman of Kemp Town Brewery, is 74. He acquired Sedgwick Park seven years ago. He is president of tho Horsham and Worthing Conservative Association and has been a meiuHer of the Primrose League for many years.
