NEW RECORDS ESTABLISHED The third monthly weight-lifting competition for the Thomas Trophy was held at Elliott's Bar-belt Club, Onehunga. L. Hogan, New Zealand middle-weight champion, gained first place, with W. Hoskins, Auckland junior light-heavy-weight champion, second, and C. McLoughlin, third. The following lifters were successful in breaking New Zealand amateur records, the old records being given in parentheses Hogan, middle-weight, two hands military press. ISlValb (1801b); W. Hoskins, light-heavy-weight, two hands snatch, lyT'Jb (1957i1b); two hands clear and jerk, 25"Vilb (2.501b); A. Sykes, two hands clear and jerk behind neck, hands press behind neck, 1441b (1201b); C. Tucker, right-hand clear and bent press. 1441b (1101b); K. Fergusson, light-weight, pull over at arm's length, 112?ilb (1001b); C. McDonald, feather-weight, right hand military press, .*7 3 ilb (ol'/jlb), left hand military press, and jerk behind neck, IGGVjIb (1501b), rectangular fix, 011b (T-J^ilb).
